Reverence for Life
To walk the Path of Powerful Kindness it is important to understand where our starting point is. How did we end up in a place where Kindness is perceived as Weakness?
For ages, we have believed that success in this world is only possible when we become tough, merciless, and without compassion for those around us. We would accept and even applaud the greed and brutality of our leaders in all fields throughout society.
This paradigm, which is extremely harmful to us and for the planet, has become outdated if we want to evolve into a mature and balanced humanity. It must be eradicated simply for a better future for our species.
Applauding and encouraging arrogant behavior has always startled me. What is so noble about walking ruthlessly over others, cheating to be the so-called best?
The goal? Being the one in power?
Being a leader, I think, is a most delicate position that demands the purest intentions, a balanced mind, and a mature attitude.
How did we end up believing the world belongs to cheats, bullies, and self-promoters? How did we come to believe that to be in a powerful position we must let go of our kindness?
Unfortunately, an ego-driven and short-term vision has been rewarded for centuries.
Rare were the examples, such as Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., or Nelson Mandela, who embodied Powerful Kindness. Leaders who reached maturity and transcended their self-centered attitude. Leaders who were so balanced that whatever storm they were facing, they could lead with kindness. They knew how to steer the boat in stormy times. They were not crippled by the fear of what public opinion might say, what stakeholders might say, what a superior or a boss might say. They were fearless.
To stay calm, kind, and compassionate, they had to be extremely powerful to not be carried away by the strong emotions and anger of the others. Their attitude stayed full of grace and dignity.
Can we evolve as humans towards a new way of Being where reverence for every form of life is re-installed?
That was my intention behind writing 'The Path of Powerful Kindness', question the current state of humanity and offer a vision of how each one of us has the power to bring about change towards a kinder and more compassionate world.
Every single day, we can lead with grace, dignity, and kindness in a very powerful way.
All we need is the courage to stand up and use our voice, without any judgment or blame, offering an alternative way of Being based on a profound understanding of the human condition and our capacity to reconnect with the sacredness that we carry each of us.
Much love, Barbara
